When I started this blog it was with the intention of sharing our travel experiences across a few different social media platforms. Maybe we could figure out how to monetize it in the future? Maybe not. When I was trying to think up a name, I wanted something that could be branded. I picked Just Us Two, thinking it was sort of like Justice Too and for the most part it wa available, though not on Twitter I later found out. A majority of my travel is with my beautiful wife, but we also travel with friends, I travel a lot with my lovely daughters and I plan to continue doing solo trips once in awhile. After posting our Facebook Page, a friend of mine (jokingly) pointed out that the name was nat very inclusive. I knew this deep down, but his comment got me to thinking.
I started looking up any and all words that could remotely tie to travel and be widely available. That’s when I found “Vagary”.
Vagary (n.): An unpredictable instance, a wandering journey; a whimsical, wild or unusual idea, desire, or action. An unexpected and inexplicable change in a situation or in someone’s behavior
I don’t think there is a better way to describe my experience with travel. Either the randomness of running into my neighbor in Galveston, having a surprise storm pop up and cause my camp mate to destroy my tent, or having my first international trip get rained out by two tropical storms ironically bearing the names of my then girlfriend’s, now wife’s, exes. My travel tends to be whimsical and go off the rails pretty quick, but I don’t think I’d want it any other way.
